Now the first sales generating activity that you can do to get more sales and clients online is asking yourself this question: Who else has access to your dream clients?

Who else has a list of emails of your ideal paying customers, or who else has customers that match your ideal paying customers?

Whenever I work with a new online business or even for my own services and products, one of the best and most effective sales generating activities is knowing who else has access to my dream clients, then reaching out to them, connecting with them, and proposing a partnership once a relationship has been built.

I look for non-competing yet complimentary businesses who are in the same or similar industry but they don’t sell the same product or service that I have.
I also make sure that any business I want to form a strategic partnership with has a vision and values that is compatible with mine. I don’t want to partner up businesses that clash with my vision and my values.

So for example, if you are a service provider and you offer graphic design, you can look for non-competing yet complimentary businesses such as partnering up with virtual assistants because they work with different clients who might need design work done, partnering up with ad agencies, partnering up with marketers or marketing agencies.

Depending on your type of business, it might not matter if they are online or offline businesses, what is more important is if they already have access to your ideal paying customers.

As a marketing coach for online businesses, I might partner up with a course creator that teaches people how to create courses, for example. Most people struggle with marketing and getting sales for their online courses, so that’s where they might be interested in my marketing services or products. You see what I mean?

And there are different types of partnerships that you can create. The simplest partnership is the referral partnership. The referral partnership is where you give a commission whenever they refer you to a paying customer or a sale.

For example, maybe you pay out 10% of each successful sale that you get for your pet product e-commerce store if a dog trainer refers one of his clients to your e-commerce store. You can always track this using a unique link or a promo code, the tech part of this isn’t complicated.

Another type of partnership is creating a joint product or service together. This is probably one of the least common ways of getting more clients online, yet it can be very rewarding and interesting for your current audience because depending on who you partner up with, it can be an exciting collaboration.

So back to the graphic designer example, what if you partner up with a website designer to offer a website and design package, done for you or maybe even an online course.

Another type of partnership is cross-promoting. So you and the other company or person cross promote each other’s products or services. Whether that’s doing a featured post or an email swap to each other’s newsletter or a feature in their email newsletter, there are many ways to do cross-promoting partnerships.

Another type of partnership that you can do to get more sales and clients online is partnering up and creating a specific training or material for their audience without cost. So offering a free training or a free mini course for example.

This is beneficial for both you and the other brand because they get to offer their audience something of value and it’s free, and on your end, you get to demonstrate your value and what your service or product is about. If you do a good job, they might convert and become clients of yours or customers of yours.

So that’s the sales generating activity number one. The second sales generating activity to get more clients online is approaching past and current clients and customers and offer a referral fee or a bonus if they refer a new client.

Many times, when business owners are thinking how to get more clients online, they forget that it’s often easier and faster to get more clients internally than trying to find new clients on social media, through paid ads, through PR.

Especially if you’ve provided a great service or you have a great product, getting your existing clients or past clients to refer you to a new client should be easy. You’ve proven yourself or your brand to be trustworthy, so they should feel confident telling their friends and family about your brand.

People love sharing about positive experiences with a brand, but they might not think about sharing until you remind them to refer you to someone that they might know who fits your ideal paying customer.

So approach any past or present clients or customers, give them an incentive to spread the word about your brand, maybe it’s a discount off or a free month, depending on what your business model is. Maybe it is a free product even.

And the best part about this is, because it comes from someone they know, their friends will trust what they’re saying. So there’s the trust factor established even though they have not heard of you before. But because someone that they know spoke highly of your product or your service, they are ready to become clients or customers.

Now the third sales generating activity to get more clients online is for those of you who are service providers or if you sell a coaching program or mastermind or a membership.

You can share this post or email, “I’m looking for X people who want to achieve Y. If that’s you, drop me a comment or DM me, I have something exciting to share."

This is a great way to get people to DM you or book a call. Sometimes we assume that everyone on our email list or social media accounts know what we sell.

But not everyone will know that, especially if they are new to your brand, so you want to make sure that from time-to-time, you send out an email with this message or post a social post telling me exactly what to do: which is if they want to work with you, to either hit reply or DM you or comment below.

This is such a simple sales generating activity that anyone can do right away, so I encourage you to plan such posts and emails.

The fourth sales generating activity to get more clients online is showing up more. Showing up more in front of your ideal paying customers, getting more of them to know you exist and then see you as the authority of your industry.

A lot of times when online entrepreneurs struggle with getting more clients, it is often because people are just not finding them. People just don’t know that this business exists, which is why they are choosing your competitors over your online business.

And the way you show up more is by becoming more visible where your ideal paying customers are hanging out. So if you know they like listening to sports podcasts, then try getting interviewed on sports podcasts. If you know that they follow a certain brand or person, can you partner with this brand or person? Can you interview this brand or person or be interviewed by them?

Another way you can show up more is by creating amazing content where your ideal paying customers are consuming content. So back to the example, if they listen to sports podcasts, can you start your own sports podcast? Can you start a sports live stream show on Instagram? Can you write blog articles about sports and then get ranked on Google’s first page using SEO strategies?

The more valuable content you create and gets seen by your audience, the more you show up where they are hanging out, the more your ideal paying customers are finding you and over time, begin to trust you and see you as the leading authority in your industry.

This is not something that happens overnight. Building authority through your content can take some time, years even. But don’t give up just because it is not instant. You can still get clients online through your content when you’re starting out, but maybe at a slower pace.

As you are showing up more and creating content that speaks to your ideal paying customer, make sure that you are focused on moving them into your list, most likely your email list.

And you want to do that because they most likely need more than just one video or one social post or one blog article to become hot leads who are ready to pay. You’ll need to nurture them, and the way you do that is to get as many of these ideal paying customers onto a list where you can then regularly nurture them.

Think of it like a funnel. I often talk about funnels, all you need to remember is that there are three main stages to a funnel: top of the funnel, middle of the funnel, and bottom of the funnel.

As you are implementing activity number four and showing up more and getting more of your ideal paying customers to know you and then get on your list, they are entering into the top of the funnel.

In order to move them down to the bottom of the funnel, where they are ready to buy your service or your product, you need to nurture them by educating them through more content, case studies - once they are in your funnel, they are not looking for more high-level awareness messaging. They’re ready for more detailed information.

So things like providing value by answering a question that’s more complex than … and illustrating how your service or your product can help.

For example, if you have a mediation service or product, and one of your top of the funnel content is a basic explanation of how meditation works, your middle of the funnel content could be a more in-depth explanation of the types of mediation.

Now the last sales generating activity that I’ll share is creating a no-brainer offer which is a high value product or service at a low price for a limited number of people.

So for example, if you are an online coach, maybe you could offer a special one hour coaching call with you for just $99 and only for 10 people. Even better, make it a time limited offer for that extra urgency.

If you’ve never created a low cost no brainer product or service, it could be the trigger that your ideal paying customer needs to become a paying customer. And the thing is, once someone buys from you and has a great experience, it is so much easier to sell them other products or services.

The key here is this no-brainer offer has to have a next stage in the value journey. What I mean by that is you need to have another more expensive product or service that you can upsell them to buy at the end of the no-brainer offer.

So in this example, make sure that during the one hour coaching call, you’re giving the promised value, so that you can move them on to the higher priced product or service.

So those are the 5 sales generating activities that I hope inspired you to try any one of them out or all of them out and see how they make a difference to your sales. I bet you if you stick to any one of the strategies, you will start to get more clients online.
